About

Dr. (HC) Sandeep N. Setty is a Family Continuity Architect and Chartered Trust and Estate Planner based in Bengaluru. He advises business families, founders, and promoter-led enterprises on the continuity architecture behind control, liquidity, governance, and succession — the structural layer that determines whether a family’s wealth and authority hold when transition arrives.

Founder of Marvella Global Financial Services. Engagements are private, by introduction, and limited in number by design.

Why this work

In his twenties, Sandeep lived through a serious business loss in his own family. The loss was not caused by poor markets, poor professionals, or poor intent. It was caused by the gaps between capable people — the seams where one advisor’s responsibility ended and another’s began, and where nobody was accountable for the join.

That experience became the question that now organises his practice:

When a family’s wealth and responsibility outgrow informal arrangements, who is actually responsible for making sure the overall structure holds?

Most wealth leaks are not market events. They are structural events. They happen quietly, across years, in the spaces between documents that were drafted separately, decisions that were made individually, and assumptions that were never tested against each other. A family discovers this — almost always — at the moment of transition, when the cost of discovery is highest.

Continuity Architecture is the discipline of making sure that what the family intends, what the documents say, what the structures permit, and what the next generation understands are all the same thing. That is the work.

What this practice does

The practice serves business families and promoter-led enterprises on five dimensions that must hold together for continuity to survive transition:

  • Control— ownership and decision rights that remain clear when the central figure is absent.
  • Liquidity— capital that becomes available at the moment it is most difficult to raise, without disturbing the operating business.
  • Governance— rules by which the family, the business, and the wealth make decisions together, written down rather than remembered.
  • Succession— transition of ownership, authority, and identity that is sequenced and documented rather than assumed.
  • Documentation— alignment between intent, legal instruments, and operating structures.

The work is diagnostic-first. Every serious engagement begins with a Private Legacy Flow Audit — a structured review of the family’s present continuity position. Recommendations follow the diagnosis. Implementation is coordinated across the family’s existing chartered accountants, lawyers, bankers, and trustees. Funded liquidity is considered only where the architecture cannot hold without it.

This practice is not a wealth manager, a portfolio advisor, a product distributor, or an insurance-first advisor. It is a coordinating discipline that works alongside those professionals, not in place of them.

How the practice operates

By private introduction. Correspondence is reviewed personally. There is no junior outreach.

A limited number of mandates are accepted each year. Engagements are selective by design — families are served best when the architect’s attention is genuinely available to them.

Confidentiality is the default, not a feature. Case work is never discussed by identifier. Written communications, diagnostic findings, and architectural recommendations are handled privately.

Beyond the practice

Sandeep is Treasurer of the Janaseva Vidyakendra Boys Hostel School Alumni Association and serves as International Service Director for Rotary Bangalore Southwest. He is a Toastmaster emcee, and his personal interests include tea, pyramid meditation, and sustained community work. These are not biographical footnotes. They are the disciplines that shape the pace and attention the practice depends on.

A quiet invitation

Families and introducers who are considering whether the practice may be relevant are welcome to begin with a private conversation. The question worth bringing is not whether the situation is urgent. It is whether the situation has outgrown informal arrangements.
